Default Quick measurement favour please

Chaps,

Could one of you please do me a favour - am off to WDW soon and will need to take my sat nav as I don't know my way all the way to Italy the wiggly way!

My new trusty steed won't arrive until next week, but am already planning!

Only way to mount when necessary looks like techmount into stem bolt on the Desmo. I have a techmount on my 848 and it is brilliant, and it can be added and removed in about 30 seconds when not in use.

Any chance one of you could pop a set of vernier calipers inside the stem bolt for me and get the inside diameter measurement in mm please? They seem to come in many sizes and I remember they take forever to arrive when ordered from the UK. That way I can at least order one now so I have it in plenty of time.

Really not sure how in the world I am going to travel any distance on that bad boy, but determined to try!!! It's only about 1,500 miles each way to Italy, how hard can that be in 70 mile petrol stop increments??!!!

Thanks,

ChamMTB

The measurment for the top is 53mm for 848 / 1098 stock. 1500 miles should be easy as long as you take a couple brakes and a couple of days. I've done a couple 1200 days on the1098 and survived. Enjoy your trip.

thanks, but that's not the measurement I need. I know that the forks on the 848/1098 are a 53mm external, what I need is the measurement for the size of the hole in the central stem bolt on the Desmo - as there is no external fork showing onto which to fit anything.

They make one that goes inside the stem bolt, through the hole, but you need to know the diameter of the hole in the stem bolt. It's that measurement I need please.

as for the distance, I have done several 1,000ml plus rides on my 848 which was fine if tiring, but am guessing the Desmo will be a very different matter!

Thanks. ChamMTB

the ID on the stem nut is 27.75mm. The stem has an ID of 29mm.
